Shin Megami Tensei Persona 2

Persona 2 Innocent Sin

I am an avid fan of the Persona Series of games developed by Atlus, and Persona 2 is comprised of two games in the series. First off, when it comes to which game between the two I prefer over the other I would have to say that I liked Persona 2 Innocent Sin way better than Persona 2 Eternal Punishment. The main silent protagonist Tatsuya, the characters, and overall story and plot was quite endearing and interesting. Also, the music was great as always.

Persona 2 Eternal Punishment

This game acts as the sequel game to Persona 2 Innocent Sin and is a continuation of that story, but this time Maya acts as the silent protagonist. This also marks the first time in the series that the main protagonist was female. This game is definitely more challenging than it's predecessor, and the story is a little bit  more harder to follow and is not nearly as endearing as Innocent Sin's story. I also like this game but it's severely lacking in many departments, but is still an overall good game.

Summer Movie Round-Up

Below you will find a mini-overview of what I thought of some of the Summer movies that I was interested in or went to see in theaters.

Pacific Rim

When I went to see this movie I didn't have to many expectations for it to be honest but this film surprised me in a good way, and I actually enjoyed it a lot. So, I definitely think that if you haven't seen this movie yet you should go see it at least once while it's still playing in theaters.

The Lone Ranger

This movie had me bored to tears throughout most of the movie. There were just so many elements that did not mesh together well for this film and took away from the cinematic experience. I really did enjoy the final moments of the film with the fast-paced action sequences and hearing the lone ranger theme song was pretty cool. Overall, it isn't worth it to see this movie in theaters so don't even bother going to see it.

Man Of Steel

I really did enjoy Man of Steel for the most part despite it's flaws and it was a great reboot movie for the Superman character. Personally, I think that this movie was better than Iron Man 3.

Note: I originally was going to see The Wolverine, but opted out of seeing it and will view the movie at a later time.

Skip Beat Chapter 202

In this chapter, the president of LME(Lori) confronts Kyoko about her blossoming feelings for Ren, and he gets all philosophical on her. Kyoko breaks down into tears because she doesn't want to become a fool in love again, and in the end Lori presents her with a choice regarding her feelings for Ren. I know that the road hasn't been exactly smooth sailing for this romance between Ren and Kyoko, but then again nothing in life ever is. I really hope that we'll reach a resolution real soon regarding this because this manga has really dragged this aspect out and for long enough.

ATLA: The Search Part 2

Part two of the search showcased some great revelations and revealed why Zuko's mom was banished from the Fire Nation. The story just keeps getting better and better, and I'm looking forward to the epic conclusion of this story that will be available in October.

Btooom!

Wow!! This anime is very brilliant and addicting. Btooom reminds me very much of the Battle Royal Series, but on a much grittier scale. This anime is very much adult-oriented and has a lot of adult themes. When I started watching this anime I became hooked and didn't want to stop watching an episode for a second. The characters and story are interesting and very much action-oriented.

Verdict

This anime is awesome and I would recommend it to other people.

Score: 9.1

Fan-fiction

When it comes to fan-fiction there can be at times a lot of planning that goes into the process, and when you're writing it yourself you can sometimes find it to be a quite taxing process. I applaud all of the fanfic writers that can pump out the chapters of their stories with ease. I don't know I think these days I enjoy reading fan-fictions more than actually writing them.

Justice League Animated Movies

Warner Brothers Animation can really deliver when it comes to their DC Animated movies that's for sure. I really enjoyed watching this movie, but overall I liked the Justice League Doom movie better.

This movie was fantastic and is a great animated movie. Everything from the pacing to the story was well thought out and captivating.

Tonari No Kaibutsu-kun

Tonari No Kaibutsu-kun is another shoujo, school life, romantic-comedy, and slice of life type of anime. The romantic aspect of a top student falling for a delinquent student provides for an interesting premise. This anime also delves deep into some real-life issues such as friendship, love, and family issues that we can all relate to. This anime also provides good amounts of comedy and I for the most part enjoyed watching this anime.

Verdict

Even though this anime has a lot of the typical elements found in shoujo animes/mangas it still holds up on it's own, and has a very unique charm to it.

Score: 8.0

Memory Lane #06 Tomb Raider

I remember the Tomb Raider movies starring Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft. The movies are of course based of off the game of the same name. I did enjoy both of the live-action movies, but I really didn't like the second movie as I felt that it lost the same spark and drive that was present in the first movie. I remember reading an article saying that there is a movie reboot in the works, and if there is let's just hope that the movie won't be a major flop and actually turn out better than the original movie.

Kamisama Hajimemashita

So right now I'm playing catch-up and watching animes from the past anime seasons and this anime was one of the animes on the list. Kamisama Hajimemashita is your typical shoujo anime/manga with added supernatural elements and I do love supernatural stories in general. The fox yokai Tomoe is absolutely adorable and he was partly the main reason why I continued to watch this anime to be honest. The main heroine Nanami doesn't really add anything to the mix except for drama and at times it became very irksome to me. I did like the hilarious moments in this anime and how the other yokais' interact with each other.

Verdict

If you're looking to watch an anime filled with fluff, bishies, and drama then this anime is right down your alley.

Score: 7.0

Cat's Eye 1997 Film

This movie was very bad, but it was bad in a good way. The story follows 3 sisters Rui, Hitomi, and Ai who become thieves dubbed "Cat's Eye" and steal paintings that their father created in the hopes of finding his whereabouts at least that's what I've gathered from the film which is based off of the anime/manga of the same name. There are some things that are painfully obvious in the movie such as cat's eye's real identities. I mean, c'mon the sisters' run a cafe that's named Cat's Eye with cat decorations and everything. The Cat's Eye theme song is really catchy and easily gets struck in your head.

Song: Mysterious Girl

Verdict

I love this movie very much from the outfits, to the music, bad visual effects, and broken English and all. This is a movie that you're supposed to have fun watching and not take too seriously. It's a movie that's charming in a weird and odd way.

Score: 8.3

Shipping Cafe #07

Final Fantasy XIII Series

Pairing: HopexLightning

History: Hopurai is my undying otp of the Final Fantasy XIII Series. I first started shipping them in the lst game despite the 7 year age difference, but in terms of shipping them romantically it was down the line when Hope was a little older say 18 years old, for example. Also, throughout the lst game you could really see Lightning's and Hope's relationship grow and develop right in front of your eyes, and I couldn't help but see that they had developed a special bond together. Now, when FFXIII-2 came out I was overjoyed with the news that Hope was a full-grown adult and was now 24/27. So, now I could properly ship Hope and Lightning together romantically, but my shipper's heart broke a little when I saw Hope's render for LR and I was very devastated in more ways than one. It was only thanks to the strong support and love of my fellow shipmates that I was able to overcome this devastating set-back thanks in part to hopurai dojinshis, fanfics, and fan-arts. So, till this day I still strongly continue to ship hopurai and will continue to do so and nothing or no one is going to stop me.

Magi: The Labyrinth Of Magic

Review

After watching this anime I had mixed thoughts regarding it. I don't know if this element was in the manga, but some of the story-arcs felt at times very drawn out or long winded, and at times I would become bored watching some of the episodes. The story is interesting and not as cliche as some of the other shounen animes, which is a good thing. There is also great character development, hilarious moments, and mild fan-service present in this anime.

Verdict

This is an overall fun and entertaining anime. So, hop on a magic carpet and join the adventure.

Uta No Prince-sama Maji Love 2000

I just finished watching the 2nd season of this anime not too long ago, and I have to say that it was much better than the 1st season but was more or less of the same. Which wasn't too surprising since it's adapted from an otome game. The songs and the added competition of new boy groups was a great added element, but I feel kinda bad for Quartet Night because I thought that they would play a much bigger role in this season, but they probably will if there is a 3rd season for this anime.

List of my favorite members of Starish from most to least favorite:

1. Ichinose Tokiya
2. Ittoki Otoya
3. Hijirikawa Masato
4. Jinguji Ren
5. Aijima Cecil
6. Kurusu Syo
7. Shinomiya Natsuki

Verdict

This anime has a little bit of everything for a typical reverse harem series and is not a bad watch at all. So, if you want to watch an anime with bishies that have beautiful and captivating singing voices than look no further.

Score: 8.1

Blood-C The Last Dark

Review

I finally got around to watching this movie, and after viewing it I was left with many mixed feelings. I think that the whole Blood-C Series didn't live up to it's full potential and ultimately fell flat on it's face. The movie is hands down better than the whole anime series combined and tied up a lot of loose ends, but there were still many plot points that were left untouched and unexplained. The movie continues the story from where the anime left off and the end is somewhat unsatisfying to say the least. I also didn't like the girl crush that one of the female characters had on Saya throughout the movie it was just a little bizarre for me.

One of the themes of the series is the sick and twisted love that Fumito has for Saya and in a weird way because of it it's what also makes Fumito a great antagonist for the series. Kudos to him.

Verdict

The whole series is a hard sell and doesn't really have that much going for it, but the movie is a good watch if you have any time to spare. Just skip watching the anime altogether and just only watch the movie and you'll be just fine.

Score: 7.5
