Shingeki No Kyojin

Review

This anime blew me away in more ways than one. From the story, to the characters, animation, and ost. The main story is basically this humanity is at war with these giants/colossal titans. These titans eat humans for really no concrete reason other than for pleasure. When I first started watching this anime I became so hooked and I could definitely see the whole buzz surrounding this anime. This anime will probably evoke so many different emotions from you, and if a show can do that then in my opinion that's great story-telling.

Ships

As far as my ships go my main ships are Levi/Mikasa, Eren/Mikasa, and Levi/Mikasa/Eren (OT3). I really love the dynamic between these three characters and how well I know they can work together to accomplish anything. I do have other ships within this fandom, but these are my three top ships.

Verdict

I was very sad to see this anime come to an end, but that's what the manga, fanart, and fanfiction are for, right? If you haven't watched this anime yet I highly recommend it.

Memory Lane #08

Sailor Moon

Talk about one of the most recognized animes to date. If you're a 90's kid then the name Sailor Moon surely resonates with you in someway or fashion. This show was awesome it had everything; romance, friendship, action, adventure, and magical girl elements. The theme song is catchy as hell and the animation is absolutely gorgeous.

Deadman Wonderland

Just recently, this manga ended and therefore another great manga series has come to an end. I've also watched the anime for this manga, but the manga is hands down way better than the anime of course.

Skip Beat Chapter 202

In this chapter, the president of LME(Lori) confronts Kyoko about her blossoming feelings for Ren, and he gets all philosophical on her. Kyoko breaks down into tears because she doesn't want to become a fool in love again, and in the end Lori presents her with a choice regarding her feelings for Ren. I know that the road hasn't been exactly smooth sailing for this romance between Ren and Kyoko, but then again nothing in life ever is. I really hope that we'll reach a resolution real soon regarding this because this manga has really dragged this aspect out and for long enough.

Btooom!

Wow!! This anime is very brilliant and addicting. Btooom reminds me very much of the Battle Royal Series, but on a much grittier scale. This anime is very much adult-oriented and has a lot of adult themes. When I started watching this anime I became hooked and didn't want to stop watching an episode for a second. The characters and story are interesting and very much action-oriented.

Verdict

This anime is awesome and I would recommend it to other people.

Tonari No Kaibutsu-kun

Tonari No Kaibutsu-kun is another shoujo, school life, romantic-comedy, and slice of life type of anime. The romantic aspect of a top student falling for a delinquent student provides for an interesting premise. This anime also delves deep into some real-life issues such as friendship, love, and family issues that we can all relate to. This anime also provides good amounts of comedy and I for the most part enjoyed watching this anime.

Verdict

Even though this anime has a lot of the typical elements found in shoujo animes/mangas it still holds up on it's own, and has a very unique charm to it.

Score: 8.0

Kamisama Hajimemashita

So right now I'm playing catch-up and watching animes from the past anime seasons and this anime was one of the animes on the list. Kamisama Hajimemashita is your typical shoujo anime/manga with added supernatural elements and I do love supernatural stories in general. The fox yokai Tomoe is absolutely adorable and he was partly the main reason why I continued to watch this anime to be honest. The main heroine Nanami doesn't really add anything to the mix except for drama and at times it became very irksome to me. I did like the hilarious moments in this anime and how the other yokais' interact with each other.

Verdict

If you're looking to watch an anime filled with fluff, bishies, and drama then this anime is right down your alley.

Magi: The Labyrinth Of Magic

Review

After watching this anime I had mixed thoughts regarding it. I don't know if this element was in the manga, but some of the story-arcs felt at times very drawn out or long winded, and at times I would become bored watching some of the episodes. The story is interesting and not as cliche as some of the other shounen animes, which is a good thing. There is also great character development, hilarious moments, and mild fan-service present in this anime.

Verdict

This is an overall fun and entertaining anime. So, hop on a magic carpet and join the adventure.

Uta No Prince-sama Maji Love 2000

I just finished watching the 2nd season of this anime not too long ago, and I have to say that it was much better than the 1st season but was more or less of the same. Which wasn't too surprising since it's adapted from an otome game. The songs and the added competition of new boy groups was a great added element, but I feel kinda bad for Quartet Night because I thought that they would play a much bigger role in this season, but they probably will if there is a 3rd season for this anime.

List of my favorite members of Starish from most to least favorite:

1. Ichinose Tokiya
2. Ittoki Otoya
3. Hijirikawa Masato
4. Jinguji Ren
5. Aijima Cecil
6. Kurusu Syo
7. Shinomiya Natsuki

Verdict

This anime has a little bit of everything for a typical reverse harem series and is not a bad watch at all. So, if you want to watch an anime with bishies that have beautiful and captivating singing voices than look no further.

Blood-C The Last Dark

Review

I finally got around to watching this movie, and after viewing it I was left with many mixed feelings. I think that the whole Blood-C Series didn't live up to it's full potential and ultimately fell flat on it's face. The movie is hands down better than the whole anime series combined and tied up a lot of loose ends, but there were still many plot points that were left untouched and unexplained. The movie continues the story from where the anime left off and the end is somewhat unsatisfying to say the least. I also didn't like the girl crush that one of the female characters had on Saya throughout the movie it was just a little bizarre for me.

One of the themes of the series is the sick and twisted love that Fumito has for Saya and in a weird way because of it it's what also makes Fumito a great antagonist for the series. Kudos to him.

Verdict

The whole series is a hard sell and doesn't really have that much going for it, but the movie is a good watch if you have any time to spare. Just skip watching the anime altogether and just only watch the movie and you'll be just fine.

Hiiro No Kakera Dai Ni Shou

Review

CONTAINS SLIGHT SPOILERS!!!

I finally did it! I mustered up enough courage to watch and sit through this anime's 2nd season after the 1st season left such a bad taste in my mouth. At first the anime started off with a lame recap-like episode and for most of the 1st half of the season the story was very stale and it felt like a repeat of the 1st season. In the 2nd season there is a budding romance between the main heroine Tamaki and Takuma one of her guardians. Where this anime really takes off is the last half of the season where everything comes to a head and all of the epicness unfolds.  Finally, the guardians unlocked their true powers and Tamaki awakened as the Tamayori Hime. In the 2nd season I actually grew to like Tamaki even though she still had a naive air around her.

Verdict

This anime especially towards the latter half of the season redeemed itself to a certain degree and it was definitely better than the 1st season which I gave a 6.0, but it doesn't change the fact that this anime at times is hard to sit through and isn't something that you would want to watch over and over again. For me it's just a watch once anime.

Zetsuen no Tempest

Review

CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!!

Zetsuen no Tempest is one of the best animes that I have ever watched in a long time. In the beginning, it started out slow and was a little hard to get fully into but after a couple of episodes it really picked up. The story : revolves around Mahiro Fuwa, a teenager whose sister was mysteriously murdered one year before, and his friend Yoshino Takigawa. Mahiro is contacted by Hakaze Kusaribe, the leader of the Kusaribe clan who was left stranded on an unknown deserted island by her followers, and agrees to help Hakaze in exchange for her help to find out the culprit for the death of his family. Upon learning of his friend's intentions, Yoshino joins him on his quest to stand against the Kusaribe clan who intends to awaken the "Tree of Exodus" whose power can bring ruin to the entire world.

Somewhere in the back of my mind I knew that Aika played a huge role in the story and I was right as the major plot twist was that she was the Mage of Exodus. Basically it was a reversed role type-plot where the thing that you thought should be good was actually bad, and the thing you thought was bad was actually good. In this case , the Tree of Genesis was evil and the Tree of Exodus was good.

Ships

YoshinoxAika

I find this ship to be cute and endearing. Yoshino is a very faithful boyfriend even after Aika's death. He is fiercely loyal to her and together they bring out the best in each other's personalities.

YoshinoxHakaze

I fell in love with this ship from the very start and wanted it become canon or acknowledged, but Yoshino was still tied to the past and Aika and until he let go of it and moved forward this ship was at a stand still. I'm glad that at the end this ship sailed and in a sense became canon. I find it funny and interesting at the same time that both mages Aika and Hakaze both fell in love with the same person.

Verdict

This is a spectacular anime that is well worth watching many times over.

Vampire Knight Chapter 92

There is only 1 chapter left until Vampire Knight's Finale. This chapter if more than anything was a build up to the final chapter and of course ended on a suspenseful cliff hanger. I'm very proud of Zero and how far he's come and has grown over the course of the manga. He is hands down the best character in VK and I hope that he gets the good ending that he so well deserves. I'm just interested to see how to final chapter of this manga will play out within the span of 52 pages. I hope that the ending of this manga will be satisfying to some degree.

Amnesia

Review

I'm a sucker for otome games that are adapted into animes or reverse harem animes. Amnesia is based off of an otome game/visual novel.

Plot: On one fateful day, August 1, the heroine lost all her memories. In order to gain them back and to ease her pain in remembering, she tries to interact with 'him' hoping to live each day as happily as she can, and to make a bright future with him...

To be honest I didn't have much hope for this anime as the previous otome game anime adaptations that I've watched in the past did not live up to their potential standards, but this anime did and I was pleasantly surprised.

CONTAINS SLIGHT SPOILERS!!!

Routes

There are various romantic "routes" or paths that the heroine can take and each of her male suitors corresponds with a deck of playing cards symbol. There are 5 routes: Heart, Spade, Clover, Diamond, and Joker.

Heart Route: Shin

I personally enjoyed Shin's Route and he is my favorite of the male suitors. He's so forceful and kawaii at the same time.

Spade Route: Ikki

Ikki is my 2nd favorite male suitor of the anime and game. He is your typical bishounen and with that he has  his own little club of fan-girls BEWARE...

Clover Route: Kent

Kent is my least favorite male suitor of the suitors. He just gives me big brother vibes and it's off putting...

Diamond Route: Toma

Toma is my 4th favorite of the male suitors and warning he's a yandere...

Joker Route: Ukyo

Ukyo is my 3rd favorite male suitor and he has a split personality, but the sweeter side of his personality outweighs his crazy killer side.

Verdict

If you want to watch a reverse harem that showcases each potential romance in a nice subtle way then this show is for you. The story is driven by mystery and the music particularly the opening and ending themes of this anime is good.

Score: 8.0

Psycho-Pass

Down to it's core this anime has a good interesting story, characters, and setting. The music is great for the most part and the relationships developed between the characters is an interesting aspect.

Verdict

To me this anime's story was a big what if scenario and for the most part it held my interest, but there were some parts where it fell short for me. I just wished that there was at least more development between Shinya's and Akane's relationship.

Score: 8.7

Persona 3 Movie

The jrpg game Persona 3 is getting it's own animated movie and I'm super excited about it. I really loved the  Persona 4 anime adaption and I'm sure that the same great execution that was done for the Persona 4 anime will be done for this movie. The movie will be split into 2 parts.

Vampire Knight Chapter 90

It's official Vampire Knight is going to be ending in May. Where the story is currently now I have mixed feelings about the road that Vampire Knight has gone down. At this point I genuinely feel that after the whole Rido Kuran Arc the manga story-wise has struggled to find it's self and get out of the hole it's fallen in. Part of me thinks that the manga should have ended after the Rido Arc and leave the story on an open-ended type of note. Kaname in this chapter was a major ass and I personally just want him to hurry up and die. As for Zero I just hope that he lives a happy life because he really deserves it and truthfully he is the only character that I care about in this manga at this point. It took me too long to finally realize that Yuuki is a very shallow-slut and she doesn't even deserve Zero. Hino Matsuri is a troll she trolled all of this manga's readers.

Nurarihyon no Mago Finale

Another great manga has come to an end Nurarihyon no Mago. This manga was spectacular in more ways than one it had a great story/plot, characters, and character development. Sure, the ending was a little bit more on the cliche side, but it was still a satisfying ending.

Shipping Cafe #02

Masumi HayamixMaya Kitajima

Manga: Glass Mask

Age really is just a number when it comes to love. Masumi and Maya have an 11 year age difference, but even that large age gap doesn't lessen the beautiful love relationship that these two have within the series.

Talk about an relationship spurned from irony. The road to romance for these two has not be an easy road to proceed down in more ways than one. Maya initially hated Masumi with a passion for destroying her life and Masumi over time grows fond of Maya, eventually falls in love with Maya, and is the very man who supports her behind the shadows as the person that Maya refers to as "Mr.Purple Roses" since her benefactor would always give her purple roses after her acting performances in a discreet manner of course.

I love this ship very much and love Masumi and Maya to death. I really hope that they get the happy ending that they very well deserve after all that they have been through.
